Single ticket for trains and public transport in Riga
Riga Single Ticket – a new solution for passengers using both the services of the rail passenger carrier Vivi and the transport of Rīgas satiksme. It allows you to buy a single ticket for just EUR 2 on the Zone A train network and on all the city’s public transport routes – buses, trams and trolleybuses – saving EUR 1 per journey. The ticket can be purchased from 15 July and will be valid from 24 July. We encourage passengers to plan their journeys well in advance and use the opportunity to buy their tickets in advance to ensure easy travel with a single ticket on both trains and Rīgas satiksme transport.
“With the Riga Single Ticket we are making public transport more accessible, more convenient and more competitive compared to the private vehicles. Our goal is to facilitate a simple and understandable transfer between different modes of transport, improving the daily transport experience for thousands of passengers. This is a step towards an integrated, environmentally friendly and sustainable transport system in Riga,” says Raitis Nešpors, Chairman of the Board of Vivi.
Chairwoman of the Board of Rīgas satiksme, Džineta Innusa: “The new single ticket is the first step towards even more convenient travel on public transport. It allows passengers to easily and conveniently combine their train and public transport journeys in Riga, saving both time and money. We are aware of the need to work on expanding ticket purchasing options, and this is just the start of a closer integration of public transport.”
“The Riga Single Ticket includes one train day ticket for a train journey in Zone A, including connecting services in this zone, and one Rīgas satiksme 90-minute ticket for a bus, trolleybus or tram journey.
The ticket is available only in digital format – on the Vivi Latvija mobile app and on the vivi.lv website. The Riga Single Ticket is valid on the specified date until 2.59 am the following day. The order of check-in is irrelevant – passengers can start their journey either by train or by Rīgas satiksme public transport. If the journey on Rīgas satiksme transport is registered first, the 90-minute countdown starts. However, if a train ticket is registered first, the public transport part remains active until it is registered.
Passengers can buy several Riga Single Tickets for the same day, and can plan journeys up to nine days in advance.
The Riga Single Ticket has been introduced as part of a pilot project that will last for one year from the moment of its availability. During this period, the system’s performance, user experience and necessary improvements will be evaluated before a possible permanent implementation.
